The Top 5 Reasons Why Winter Is a Great Time To Schedule a Skydive

Posted by

Skydiving is an amazing experience both for yourself and as an exceptional gift idea. But can you skydive in the winter months?

Some assume that we close up shop at Chicagoland Skydiving Center during the wintertime, because skydiving in winter is just too cold. While it is true that we don’t operate the dropzone during the cold months, our managers and staff never stop working during the off-season.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO GO SKYDIVING?

Our team is busy planning the exciting year ahead, and we know that both frequent free fallers and first-timers alike are just as anxious for spring— the best time to release the chutes and feel the rush!

Why not plan ahead and snag a gift card now? Whether it’s for your special someone or your boss’s birthday, a CSC certificate is a great gift idea to bring in the new year in style.

Here are five reasons to give the gift of flight this winter:

1. NO MATTER THE SEASON, AN EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST GIFT EVER

Experiential gifts tend to make people happier than material gifts, according to a study from Colby College.

That’s because possessions can get boring quickly, but memories can bring us joy for years to come.

The thrill of skydiving might be the perfect experience to share with a like-minded friend, family member or partner. You’re both releasing endorphins and sharing in a mutual thrill, even as you each freefall with your own experienced skydiver— and forming stronger bonds with one another as a result.

And of course, the recipient of your gift will be able to plan ahead and make sure that they are ready and available for their flight experience ahead of time.

2. You’ll have something exciting to look forward to when it warms up.

While some action-packed activities are built for cold weather, skydiving in winter just isn’t a great option. It’s not just because you’d be chilly, Chicago’s frigid winter conditions often make it impossible to skydive safely from November through parts of April. And those months can be, well, dreary.

By purchasing a skydiving gift card now, you’ll be giving someone a fun experience to look forward to come spring. You’ll get to give the certificate to them right away and let the excitement build until the big day. Or, you’ll have the gift card ready for yourself when you need a break.

3. YOU CAN KNOCK SKYDIVING OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST OR SCHEDULE THE ULTIMATE NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION.

Every year, people all across the country make resolutions to eat better, work out, and do a few things they’ve been wanting to do but always seem to push off.

Many peoples’ New Year’s Resolutions include a few bullets from their dusty, ol’ bucket list— and if trying skydiving is on yours, 'tis the season to take the plunge!

Skydiving for you could mean finally conquering your fear of heights or symbolize taking a leap of faith to prompt other major changes in your life. Plus, it gives you some pretty cool bragging rights: “I just fell from 18,000 feet in the sky— no big deal.”

4. You’ll be guaranteed a spot on the exact day you choose.

When our dropzone opens back up in the spring, it can get pretty busy. Season pass members look forward to the chance to feel the rush, and people all across Chicago are eager to do something active again.

By purchasing a gift certificate now and reserving your jump day early, you are helping to ensure your skydiving experience is exactly how you envision. You’ll get your pick of the litter to secure the best date, prepare for your day, and get through the paperwork pre-jump.

Planning ahead like this is especially important if you’re coordinating a double or larger party jump as a gift. The closer you are to the date you want, the less likely you’ll be able to schedule it! That’s why getting your spring skydiving experience scheduled earlier is a great idea— less competition for the first open day!

5. You’ll have plenty of time to prepare.

If you or the person you’re gifting the skydive certificate to are nervous about the jump, snagging one this winter is good for two reasons.

First, you’ll be locking you or your bud into your commitment. Pressure’s on to stick to your guns and follow-through (but in a fun way).

Second, you’ll have plenty of time to do your research. You can read through some of the tips on our blog and check out our Tandem Skydiving Guide.

AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

Not sure how high up your special someone wants to fall from? That’s okay. CSC Sky Bucks can be redeemed for any skydive or media package, so they can choose the exact jump they want.

This winter, give a meaningful experience to yourself or someone you care about by picking up a Chicagoland Skydiving certificate from our center or ordering one online.
