ROCHELLE (WIFR) -- While many people are trying to hide from the triple-digit temperatures, others are making the most of it...from high above.
The Chicagoland Skydiving Center has officially landed at the Rochelle Airport. Today the business held its grand opening. The 20,000 square foot facility includes a hangar to learn how to train for the big jump. The new business is also expected to bring in more tourism to the area,
Douglas Smith, President, CEO, says, "Everyone understood what we were pitching was gonna bring a lot of tourism to this community that normally doesn't bring in a lot of tourism. They have a lot of industry here, but tourism is one area where they wanted to grow."
The skydiving center plans to open a restaurant and bar at the airport in the coming weeks.
