skydive update

Things are beginning to dry out after the worst rains we've ever seen at CSC. We had standing water on the runway and the parking lot was completely under water. We were forced to get creative this week and shuttle jumpers down to the Aurora Airport in an effort to preserve the runway. As of Wednesday afternoon, we are back to 100%. The PAC left this morning for East Troy, WI, so we will be flying the Otter all day today. The forecast looks absolutely perfect and we have a busy weekend planned. Stick around on Saturday evening for free pizza!

Rich Madsen's group will be hitting it hard again this weekend with larger groups. Andy Boyd, the Softcheck's, and the other load organizers will be out, so if you don't have anyone to jump with, let us know and we will take care of you.

We will be supporting our friends in Mexico at Skydive Cuautla again this winter by sending the Super Otter down for 7 months to fly in Cuautla and Puerto Escondido. Antonio and Hector just completed construction on a brand new DZ on their private property complete with swoop pond and paved runway. Dean is getting things ready for his long road trip and the Otter was down for more maintenance last week getting her ready to leave. It seems like we spend half of the summer season getting her back up to 100% after the long winter and the other half getting her ready for another one.

Buy your airfare for the holiday boogie today! Flights to Puerto Escondido via Mexico City are getting expensive already. There are options to fly into other airports such as Huatulco (HUX), Acapulco (ACA), or even Ixtapa (ZIH) and take a bus trip to Puerto. If you get to Mexico City early enough on the 26th, you can catch a ride in the Otter from Cuautla (1 hour south of Mexico City) to Puerto Escondido and fly back to Cuautla on January 2nd. Trust us, it's worth it!

Upcoming Events:

Congratulations:

From CSC Rhythm:

It has come to be known as one the world's most anticipated events. The Olympics? No. The World Series? uh uh. The Presidential election? That ain't it sister! I am talking of course about the CSC Rhythm XP 4-way Scrambles! This hallowed event comes but twice a year, and our second Scrambles of the season is scheduled for Sunday, September 28th at CSC. Typically the scrambles draws over 30 participants, plus about 20 more who wish they had done it.

But what is the CSC Rhythm XP 4-way Scrambles?

The event is a competition consisting of four jumps taken from the 4-way dive pool. It is a great opportunity for any skydivers who would like to participate in a 4-way meet but don't want to commit the time or money to an entire season. It's also a great opportunity to learn a lot, to help others, and to meet new people. We always get jumpers from the various area DZ's to join us, so it is also an excellent opportunity for people from different DZ's to meet.

But I'm not good enough to do the Scrambles...
Yes you are! No 4-way experience is expected or needed. As long as you are comfortable flying with 3 other people and a cameraman, this event is for you. We'll be mixing up the teams to make them fair and fun.

But I'm too good to do the Scrambles...

Help out less experienced jumpers, and share your skills with others.

Such a spectacular event! The entry fee must cost hundreds of dollars!

The fee is just $30.00 per person to cover costs like cameraman's slot and his pack. Of course, you pay for your own jumps.

OK, I'm in. When does it start?

The event will start with a brief meeting at 8:30am, Sunday September 28.

What about prizes? I'm in it for the prizes!

As always, there will be prizes, including free jumps and beer! Since second place wins the beer, there's no shame in aiming for 2nd!

You had me at "It." Now how do I sign up?

If you are interested or have any questions please email Steve at steve@cscrhythm.com. We're asking people to sign up by Thursday, September 18 so we can organize the teams beforehand and ensure enough camera men. Also, check out our website, www.cscrhythm.com for more details about the team and our events.

Note: Scrambles are different from the team-for-a-day in a few ways. First, Scrambles is a competition and team-for-a-day is not. Second, Scrambles is 4 jumps, while team-for-a-day is 8 to 10 jumps. Finally, Scrambles will mix skydivers of all skill levels, while team-for-a-day is intended to pair up jumpers with comparable experience. Both types of events are tons of fun, and we encourage you to sign up for all the events you want!

Apparently, we weren't the only airport suffering from water last week!
