skydive update

Summer has decided to make an appearance and we are busier than ever flying 7 days a week with very busy weekdays. Come out and enjoy an afternoon of jumping and make as many jumps as you want. We are flying 15+ loads a day throughout week in the PAC.

4th of July Weekend was the first annual CSC Wingsuit Weekend along with our $18 Independence Boogie. Thanks to Zach Schroedel for hosting the wingsuiters. We had a good turnout considering the weather forecast. Flying the Otter and PAC made for quick calls and plenty of bird people navigating the skies over Hinckley, IL. We had several demo jumps throughout the weekend that went off without a hitch. Special thanks to Carolyn and Diana for taking care of the ground crew duties while we did the fun part!

This past weekend was possibly our first full weekend of jumping in 2009. Well, maybe not 100%. We did have a short delay getting the day started on Saturday morning due to clouds, but we were flying by 9:30 and still managed to fly 36 loads by sunset. A shower rolled thru on Sunday afternoon, but everyone kept jumping, so we never shut down all day.

We are seeing a big demand for our 18,000' EXTREME tandem challenge since we started offering the new service. If you are a licensed skydiver and want to jump from 18,000', just let manifest know and we will get you on the next load going to high altitude. Where else can you jump from 18,000 feet everyday?

The air-conditioning has been running non-stop in the north hangar for you, but it looks like we'll get a break from that this weekend. The forecast is calling for cooler temperatures and light winds all weekend. We are hosting an NSL meet on Saturday. If you are looking to compete, come on out and put a pick-up team together. We urge people of all experience levels to compete. We will be flying the Super Otter and PAC 750XL all weekend. Don't forget that competitors get $18.00 jumps all weekend after the competition. Also, Friday is going to be a great day to train for just 18 bucks. PROskydiving VFS will be training from 11:30am to sunset, so you know the planes will be turning.

The 2nd Annual CSC Golf Outing was scheduled for tomorrow, but we've rescheduled it to Friday, August 14th. 18 holes in the morning followed by $18 jumps all afternoon. Sounds like a sick day to me!

CSC Mayhem is in town this weekend offering free freefly load organizing to jumpers of all levels. Be sure to stick around on Saturday night for live music around the bonfire.

Nathan and I are currently on a flight home from New Hampshire where we spent a few more hours in the wind tunnel with PJ Jackson from CSC Mayhem. If you are looking for coaching, I encourage you to contact PJ at freeflyorganizing@gmail.com and set-up some tunnel time at SkyVenture New Hampshire. The staff at SVNH are very accommodating and the facilities are great. Whether you are looking to fix some freefall issues or you want to focus on getting better on a competitive level, PJ's your guy.

A couple of reminders - Brian Germain is coming back to CSC to host his famous canopy control course. I encourage everyone to consider Brian's course. If you are unsure, ask anyone who has taken his course before. It's worth the time and money. Also, Sonic from Skydive The Ranch is coming to town to host his BASE camp. Sonic has designed a skydiving approved BASE rig to help BASE wannabes become familiar with their gear. Fly BASE canopies, learn the dos and don'ts of BASE jumping with the extra altitude only an airplane can offer. Bridge Day is coming up in October. Don't even think about hucking yourself off an object without going thru Sonic's BASE camp!

A reminder that CSC will be closed on Monday, July 27 & Tuesday, July 28. We are taking our annual staff retreat at the CSC lakehouse. 2.5 days of boating, tubing, jet skiing, swimming, tanning, partying, etc. We will be back for $15 to 15,000' on Wednesday at 11:30am. We will be flying the Otter that week as the PAC will be in Michigan supporting our friends at Midwest Freefall near Detroit, MI.

Congratulations:

Special Thanks:

FYI - packing ticket prices have increased $.50 to $6.50. We are doing what we can to keep prices under control, especially in this economy. Keep in mind that pack jobs were $5.00 when I started jumping in 1994. Our packers are the hardest working people on the DZ and deserve a raise.
