skydive update

We have been running full-throttle at CSC lately.  We flew over 180 loads last week alone!  It’s going to be a long, hot summer, so come on out and enjoy the air-conditioned packing area at CSC!

Since our last update, we hosted the 13th annual Skydiving for MS event.  Unfortunately, we were rained out again this season, but we still managed to raise over $17,000 for the National MS Society.  It looks like MS14 will be in September next year.  We will keep you posted.  Special thanks to Dave & Ceil Perez, the CSC staff, and everyone who donates time and money to make this such a great event.  Don’t forget, you can raise money for this great cause all year long.  Just download a pledge form to learn how to get a free tandem skydive.

Our Freefall University Skydiving School is seeing a big surge this season.  Barry is doing a great job managing FU and everyone enjoys working with Barry and his team.  Stay up-to-date on new graduates, videos, pictures, articles and more on FU's Facebook page.

This weekend, Rich Madsen, Andy Boyd, and Brian Darnell are hosting a 4-way scrambles meet. The only requirement to participate is an A-license or higher and being comfortable and safe in the air with 3 other people.  If you are experienced at 4-way this is a chance to put up some points.  If you have never done 4-way then this is your chance to learn what it is all about. This event is for everyone, so join us on Saturday.

Rich, Andy, and Brian will be organizing the teams and acting as a player/coaches.  If you want to compete with your own team that is fine.  To keep things even, we will be using 3 separate draws: A/Rookie, AA and AAA.  Teams are encouraged to choose the dive draw they are comfortable with but still challenged by.  We will also be bumping the working time from 35 seconds to 50 seconds to give everyone a chance to score higher and make the most of our altitude.

We are planning 4-rounds of competition to begin around 9:00 a.m.  We are trying to line up video people for each team.  If you are a video person interested in participating or know someone who is please contact me or the DZ.

Jumps will be regular price but to cover the video slot there will be a fee of $15.  That is the only extra cost.

Medals will be awarded for 1st thru 3rd place.

We've been doing a lot of work to the CSC Otter this season. We have a new engine on the left side and a fresh "hot section" on the right side plus new landing gear, all new flight control rods, cables and plenty more. We've put several hundred thousand into maintenance over the past few weeks, so come out and enjoy the new and improved N901ST!

Calendar of Events:

Independence Boogie

Don’t forget that next Friday is the start of the 2010 Independence Boogie at CSC.  We have some great organizers and events planned throughout the 10 day event.  The first weekend has Sandy Grillet organizing RW jumps along with the normal CSC LO crew.  Also, PJ Jackson is in town hosting a freefly training camp.  PD and Mirage Systems will be on-site with demo equipment.

We will have LOs and discounted jumps throughout the week including a famous CSC $15 Wednesday.  Derek and Kiwi from SkyVenture Colorado will be here Wednesday thru Sunday giving free RW and freefly organizing/coaching. The second weekend we welcome Lyle Presse organizing RW and Sporto taking care of the freeflyers.

$25 boogie fee covers event t-shirt, organizers, and $20 jumps.
