It's been busy around the DZ even though we have been riddled with wind and rain. It's looking like we may be getting out of this weather system that has been parked over us for so long. The weather today is absolutely perfect and we have plenty of business scheduled. Don't forget that every Wednesday is $17 jumps followed by Taco Night at the Welcome Matt in Hinckley. We have 40+ tandems on the books for Thursday too, so you know the PAC will be flying non-stop. By the way, we will be open at 8:00am for a corporate event, so if there are any experienced jumpers who would like to join us, we are offering $15 jumps before noon.
Don't forget that Friday morning is our First Annual CSC Golf Outing at EdgeBrook Golf Course in Sandwich. Contact Shea Meyer for last minute slots. $35.00/person including cart.
Also, this Saturday is the Frank Bennett Memorial Event. We are proud to be hosting this event in honor of our old friend.
The 11th Annual Skydiving for MS event was last weekend. A huge thanks goes out to everyone who continues to help keep this event going year after year. With poor weather for the entire event and no drug company backing, we still managed to raise over $12,000.00! Below is a note from our event organizer:
I just wanted to say thank you on behalf of the MS Boogie Volunteer Group. We did well considering we didn't have MS drug backing for the first time in 7 years; considering no one jumped that day, the first time the plane was started it was to move to a safe place, (hangar), tornado warning. Even through all that, we managed to have a great party Saturday night with a great band and great food.
We raised over $12,000 for NMSS and gave out a dozen rain checks for free tandems that were earned for fund raising efforts. This was a testament to the heart and soul of the skydive community. No matter the weather, we will push forward with our plans of helping rid the world of Friggin' Multiple Sclerosis!
Thanks again to all CSC staff, frequent skydivers, and new visitors who braved the weather with us.
Sincerely,
Dave and Ceil Perez, Skydiving for MS
The Super Otter was down for extensive routine maintenance last week. Along with several other projects, we are in the midst of putting a new "hot section" in the right engine, so there is currently a loaner hot section installed until they finish the work on ours. We are scheduled to finish the project the week of July 7. A lot of work goes into keeping these birds in the air. Our goal is to keep them as safe as we possibly can for you. Again, special thanks goes out to Tom Pecharich of Aircraft Maintenance Consultants along with Dean Ricci.
This past weekend was another CSC Rhythm XP Team-For-A-Day event. We had a great turnout for the event and even better feedback from all of the participants. A special thanks goes out to CSC Rhythm for giving back to CSC and skydiving in general. We are proud to sponsor such a team! Below is from JaNette Lefkowitz:
We had a great turnout for our third team-for-a-day event. We had three groups on Saturday, and despite the strange storm Sunday morning, two full teams on Sunday. Thank you to Kevin, Andy, Shea, and Pete for videoing for us. Click here to see photos.
For those that are interested, Team-For-A-Day is an organized day of 4-way with three participants and one CSC Rhythm XP 'captain' per team. Teams are organized based on experience and goals and the focus is on a fun, no-pressure learning environment. The CSC Rhythm XP captain plans and emails the dives ahead of time, provides coaching and preparation and debriefs for the dives, coordinates video and pre-manifesting. The only costs, other than your own slot, are to cover the video slot and pack. Spaces are limited and filling up fast -- the next dates are July 19 & 20 and August 2 & 3.
Questions or to sign up: email us at all@cscrhythm.com
Also, July 28th is the next MWSL meet with guest coach Kirk Verner, Airspeed founder and world champion. If you're interested in putting together a team for the meet, Rhythm can help put you in touch with others. Email us at all@cscrhythm.com
Thanks,
JaNette
Last week, we hosted a corporate event for Revision Eyewear. Special thanks to Dan Packard and everyone at Revision.
We've had quite a few people contact us regarding the re-scheduling of the Pitts Bi-Plane. At this point, we are looking at the weekend of July 12 - 13. Stay tuned to the calendar of events for more details.
A special congratulations goes out to Larry Baker who joined us this past weekend for his 7th tandem skydive. You may have seen his jump on WGN on Saturday night with Jackie Bange. Thanks to Jackie for covering this great story. Did we mention that Larry is 97 years old?
Another reminder about the flight status service that we post on our website daily. We have added to that service making it available to you via your mobile device. Just text "CSC" to 839863 and get the daily flight status sent to your phone instantly. You will be sent another SMS message asking if you would like to opt-in to our distribution list. We will be sending out several messages per month to let people know about things going on at CSC plus discounts made available only to our subscribers. You can opt-out anytime by texting "STOP CSC INFO" to 839863. Please note that you will be charged standard text rates by your wireless service provider.
