skydive update

April started off strong, but we've had quite a bit of weather lately. Not a big surprise for this time of year. However, we've been busy on the phones as business seems to be on track for another record season. We already have over 90 tandem students scheduled for this Saturday.

The new PAC (now called XSTOL) arrived safely after a 55.7 hour flight from Hamilton, New Zealand! Her first day on the job at CSC was nearly a 20 load day. We ended it with a champagne toast and live music in the north hangar by Dave Cicciarelli. Congratulations to the winners of the first load raffle:

Speaking of aircraft, the Super Otter has been busy flying weekends in Hollister, CA and weekdays for the military in San Diego. Tuesday was our final day in San Diego. Dean then flew up to our maintenance facility in San Luis Obispo, CA that evening so Tom can get everything done before coming back to the Midwest next week. She is making 1 stop in Greensburg, IN for a quick 4-day contract before coming back to CSC. As always, we will be flying the XSTOL during the week and the Otter on the weekends. Starting May 15, Jason will be taking the PAC on the road for weekends until we need both airplanes here at home.

We've had a couple of successful $15 to 15,000' Wednesdays in the new XSTOL and last Friday we flew 15 loads! Not bad for a weekday in April. Don't forget that the teams are training every Friday and Rich and Brian are focusing on 4-way Fridays. The plane will be flying all day.

We have a big weekend planned with Rich's 8-way, Cinco de Mayo party on Saturday complete with tacos and mojitos, and $19 jumps all day Sunday.

Starting this weekend, we are now open at 8:30am on Saturdays and Sundays. June 1, we will go to a 7:30am start time. Still noon to sunset on the weekdays (closed on Tuesdays until Memorial Day).

If anyone is interested in tunnel flying, PJ Jackson of CSC Mayhem is hosting a tunnel camp at SkyVenture New Hampshire.

skyventure new hampshire

Who can attend?  Skydivers who want to advance their flying skills.  First timers and experienced flyers are welcome.  This camp is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to freefly or the experienced freeflyer who has not made it to the tunnel yet.  AFF students, newly licensed skydivers, and experienced skydivers ready to sharpen their skills can benefit from focused learning in the tunnel.  Bodyflight enthusiast, lets share some time group flying or get outside of our comfort zone with some “pushing your personal limits” type flying.

Training Camp Focus: Freefly, Total Bodyflight, VFS, and FS.  Basic belly flying skills must be proven before moving onto the freefly progression.  All of the attending flyers will work 1 on 1 with a coach to maximize their learning.  A coach can be utilized for group flying as well.

Cost: $860 per hour with coaching.  Your coach will be CSC Mayhem member PJ Jackson, with assistance from SVNH staff instructors, and a guest coach for participants who wish to focus more on FS skills.

What You Get: (6) 10 minute flight sessions with inside flight chamber instruction and coaching.  Before each flight session you’ll have a pre-flight briefing.  Spacers are provided so you have time to rest between rotations and talk with your coach before you try again.  Afterwards, you’ll debrief with a DVD recording all of your flights.  This DVD is yours to bring home.  Water and some snacks will be provided during the day.

Requirements:  Positive attitude and ready to fly!  Bring your own sneakers, jumpsuit, helmet, and goggles if you like, however SkyVenture New Hampshire has all that stuff free to use.   It is recommended that each participant flies one hour total to get the most out of the camp.

Reservations and Payments: Contact PJ Jackson at freeflyorganizing@gmail.com to reserve your slot.  100% deposit required to confirm your reservation, 3 week cancellation policy.  Payments are made to PJ by check, money order, or PayPal.  Credit cards through PayPal will result in an additional fee.

As we've mentioned, CSC is now using Twitter. We will be updating our Twitter status throughout each day which will then update our Facebook page and the Flight Status section of the CSC homepage. If you opt in to mobile alerts on Twitter, you can receive text messages with our update information. To begin following us, check out www.twitter.com/skydivecsc.
