skydive update

We're less than a week away from opening day and USPA Safety Day. Although there have been some nice weather days in March, we're certainly glad we're not open today. It's cold and windy here in Chicago!

As we mentioned in our last update, we are excited about the calendar of events we have put together for 2009. Speaking of events, we're meeting at Hooters at 660 North Wells Street in Chicago this evening at 6:00pm. Everyone is invited. We hope you can make it.

It has been a very eventful month coordinating the final arrangements for our new PAC 750XL. The original plan was to take the airplane apart and ship it over in a container, but that changed due to time constraints. I opted to ferry the aircraft across the ocean and get her to CSC sooner rather than later. Those changes have complicated matters substantially because we had to hire a ferry company to put fuel tanks in the cabin and fly her across the Pacific Ocean. Did I mention there is no auto-pilot and just 1 engine on that plane? Needless to say, it won't be me flying it over! They are departing Hamilton, New Zealand next Thursday (Wednesday in the US) and are scheduled to land in Davis, CA the following Monday after stops in Samoa and Hawaii.

We will be raffling off the first load in the new airplane next Saturday. Come out on Safety Day for the chance to be the first person to ever jump out of this brand-new airplane! We will keep you posted on when she is due to arrive, but right now it's looking like Saturday, April 11. Don't miss the aircraft arrival ceremony. We won't exactly be breaking a bottle of champaign across her fuselage, but we have some ideas in mind of how we can inaugurate this new jumpship to CSC.

USPA Safety Day 2009

If you need any rigging services completed, don't forget that Eric is available full-time and can get you taken care of before opening day. If you plan on joining us tonight at Hooters, feel free to bring your gear and we will make sure it's ready for next weekend. Contact Eric via email at TheLoft@PROskydiving.com or call 616.293.8955.

Our official opening day is next Saturday. Weather permitting, we will be flying the PAC (the same one we had last year) on Friday from noon to sunset. We will be open at 10:00am on Saturday with presentations and food beginning at noon. Come on out and catch up with everyone, fill out your waivers for the 2009 season, brush up on your aviation and skydiving safety issues, and stick around for a gathering at the Welcome Matt in Hinckley.

We've received a ton of feedback on our new $3,250 all-you-can-jump PROpass. Don't forget, with PROpass you also get 6 buddy passes, discounts on new gear purchases, and more. Please note that PROpass is available for a limited time. If you are interested or need payment terms, we may be able to accommodate you. If you don't choose to take advantage of PROpass, don't forget there are several other money saving options including the buy-ins as outlined below. As always, buy 10, get 1 free will be available all season long.

On top of PROpass, we have decided to increase our tandem referral program. We will now be giving 1 free skydive to all licensed skydivers who bring a friend out to do a tandem or solo skydive at CSC. Help us get the word out by using Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, emailing your school or work, etc. Think about it, you could potentially jump for free all season by putting a few groups together to skydive at CSC!

Speaking of Twitter, CSC is now using Twitter and we've integrated it into our site. We will be updating our Twitter status throughout each day which will then update our Facebook page and the Flight Status section of the CSC homepage. If you opt in to mobile alerts on Twitter, you can receive text messages with our update information. To begin following us, check out www.twitter.com/skydivecsc.

PROskydiving

We are excited about the next phase of our PROskydiving project. Just this morning, we unveiled custom pricing for our network dropzones. Since we launched the site in December, we have been gathering feedback from the 50+ participating dropzones on our network. The feedback has been very positive, but one common thread that we received was that the DZs want the ability to design their services and set their pricing. It took another 2 months of coding to make these substantial changes to the backend system that powers PROskydiving, but we feel that we have set ourselves on a great path for building the most powerful payment processing system and gift certificate portal available for the skydiving industry.
