About Brian Darnell
I began skydiving in September of 1993. Upon landing from my first jump I knew that this was something I had to be a part of. I progressed through the AFP program and finally earned my A license. I enjoyed every aspect of jumping but settled quickly on competitive 4-way skydiving. Over the years I managed to be a part of many great teams including Jet Bait, Area 51, DefCon 4, The Dreddogs, Steel Breeze, Grounds 4 Divorce and Rubicon. I managed to accumulate more medals in local leagues than I can count but the grand prize of medaling at US Nationals has eluded me. Maybe this will be the year.
Besides 4-way RW my next favorite discipline is large multi-plane formations. There is nothing like being a floater on a trail plane flying in a sunset formation. There are no words to describe the excitement and beauty of that moment.
My most memorable skydive was doing 4-way out of a Boeing 727 in 1996 at the World Freefall Convention.
Besides the thrill of jumping the best part of skydiving for me is the people you meet along the way. I have built friendships that will last a lifetime thanks to this sport.
